Tricksters are summoned in two poems by Laszlo Aranyi

Dead Genie in a Bottle
The dusty, cobwebbed mummies of bottles.
Moon larvae, homunculus spores.
Clotted-green and hairy mold
cover the paprika potato left on the plate.
Worms’ waste-panopticon. Shock-headed old woman
from the shit-smelling doorway: “if you’ll buy me a drink,
I’ll show you my hairy cunt”. Nine shining chitin armors
hide the wrecked swag-belly of the planets.
The web-weaving spider-king’s
sending nine fearsome warriors; they all fall.
Loki, as a gadfly torments the
Dwarf Brock (fat, death row inmate: squeaky violin),
yet he forges a strange, magical ring,
And every ninth night
he gives birth to eight of the same rings.
Hungary steams like a garbage dump,
you can feel the nauseatingly putrid,
festering earth’s flesh as saliva drips
while the varicose fetish neighs.
(Translated by Gabor Gyukics)
Palackba zárt, döglött szellem
Palackok porlepte, pókhálós múmiái.
Holdlárva, homunculus-spórák.
Alvadt-zöld, szőrösödő penész
a tányéron maradt paprikás krumplin.
Hulladék-panoptikum, pondróké. Borzasfejű vénasszony a
szarszagú kapualjból: „ha fizetsz egy kisfröccsöt,
megmutatom a szőrös pinnámat”. Kilenc fénylő kitinpáncél
rejti a bolygók roncsolt potrohát. Kilenc rettentő harcos küld
a hálószövő pókkirály; elhullnak mind.
Loki bögölyként kínozza a
törpe Brockot (hájas halálraítélt: nyekergő hegedű),
ő mégis különös, mágikus gyűrűt kovácsol,
s az minden kilencedik éjszakán
nyolc ugyanolyan gyűrűt szül.
Szeméttelepként gőzölög Magyarország, tapintható az
orrfacsaróan émelyítő, gennyes földhús, nyál csorog, nyerít a
visszeres fétis.

Editor-in-Chief’s Note: As an anarchist and degenerate poet, I gotta say it. WOW. This writer’s bio is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
